About

Piano Recital V / Jan Bartoš

The works of Ludwig van Beethoven form the core of the performance profile of the leading Czech pianist Jan Bartos, a pupil of the legendary Alfred Brendel and Ivan Moravec. In his Bratislava recital, the artist will perform Beethoven's piano miniatures from his early and late creative period, alongside the composer's last Sonata No. 32 in C minor, Op. 111. Its second movement, Arietta with Variations, is one of the highlights of the Classical piano literature; the music at the end seems to leave the earthly world and move towards silence and transcendence. For his CD recording Sonatas for the Supraphon label, Jan Bartos received a high award from the British music magazine BBC Music Magazine.
