Accessibility Statement

This statement applies to the web application Concert Archive of the Slovak Philharmonic, available at stream.filharmonia.sk, including the microsites of the Bratislava Music Festival and the J. N. Hummel International Piano Competition. It does not apply to the main website of the Slovak Philharmonic (www.filharmonia.sk) or to other web presentations of the organisation.

The Concert Archive of the Slovak Philharmonic, as part of the internet site of the Slovak Philharmonic, is operated in accordance with Act No. 95/2019 Coll. on Information Technologies in Public Administration and Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

Compliance status

The Concert Archive of the Slovak Philharmonic web application is partially compliant with the accessibility requirements set out in Act No. 95/2019 Coll. and the standard STN EN 301 549 V2.1.2, respectively with the WCAG 2.1 level AA guidelines.

Non-accessible content

Interviews and discussions do not include subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing (we plan to add them, including SK/EN translations)
The video player (Vimeo platform) is an external component whose accessibility is beyond the operator's control
PDF programme books and scanned programme bulletins may not be produced in a fully accessible format
Timeline widget (external library) — keyboard operation depends on a third party
Older pages of the previous version of the archive, still reachable on the stream.filharmonia.sk domain, have not undergone an accessibility audit; their redirection to the new version is being completed

The Audio and Video Production Department of the Slovak Philharmonic works continuously on removing these shortcomings.

Measures taken to ensure accessibility

The following measures have been implemented as part of development and regular audits (most recent: 12 August 2026):

Structure and navigation:

Semantic HTML5 elements (header, nav, main, footer) and ARIA landmarks
Page language attribute (lang) with dynamic SK/EN switching
Correct heading hierarchy (H1 — H6) with no skipped levels on all pages, including the microsites
A “Skip to content” link at the beginning of every page, including the BHS and Hummel microsites
Navigation regions distinguished by an accessible name (aria-label)
Current page indicated in navigation (aria-current) on the main site and in the microsites
Consistent breadcrumb navigation with aria-label

Images and media:

Alternative texts on all informative images (portraits, concert banners, gallery, recommended concerts)
Decorative images and icons marked with an empty alt attribute or aria-hidden
Automatic video subtitles in Slovak and English

Interactive elements:

Accessible names (aria-label) on all icon-only controls — search, audio archive, help, favourites, theme and language switch, player controls, favourites and voting on the concert detail page
Visible focus indicator on all interactive elements
Focus trap in modal windows and lightboxes, with focus returned to the originating element
Photo gallery operable by keyboard (Enter/Space to open, arrow keys to navigate)
Lightbox with role=“dialog”, aria-modal and keyboard shortcuts (Esc, arrow keys)
Video player with aria-label on the volume slider, progress bar and all buttons
Keyboard shortcuts / and Ctrl+K for quick access to search

Tabs and dynamic content:

Tab navigation with aria-selected, aria-controls and aria-labelledby
Announcing dynamic content changes to assistive technologies (aria-live regions)
Announcing error messages to screen readers (role=“alert”)
Elements present in the page structure without content are not exposed to assistive technologies until they are populated

Forms and security:

Form fields with aria-required and autocomplete attributes
A label (label element or aria-label) on every input field, including search and calendar filters
CSRF protection on all forms
Correctly associated labels (for/id)

Visual accessibility:

Colour contrast meeting WCAG 2.1 AA (at least 4.5:1 for body text) — verified by measurement in both dark and light mode
Dark and light mode switching that respects system preferences
Support for reduced motion (prefers-reduced-motion) — all animations are suppressed
Responsive design for mobile devices, tablets and desktop
