Tips & Keyboard Shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts
The archive supports keyboard shortcuts for quick navigation:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| / | Opens the search box from any page (toggle) |
| ⌘ + K (macOS) or Ctrl + K (Windows/Linux) | Alternative shortcut to open search |
| Esc | Closes the search box or any modal |
| Enter | In search, jumps to the first result |
Tip: On the numeric keypad, press / directly. On the main keyboard the position depends on the system — on macOS SK it is Shift + ú, on Windows SK usually Shift + ý. That's why we recommend ⌘K / Ctrl+K as a more universal shortcut.
Video player
While watching a concert, the following keyboard shortcuts are available:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Space or K | Play / pause |
| ← | Seek 5 seconds back |
| → | Seek 5 seconds forward |
| J | Seek 10 seconds back |
| L | Seek 10 seconds forward |
| , or ⌥ + ← | Step back one frame (0.04 s at 25 fps PAL video). Automatically pauses playback. |
| . or ⌥ + → | Step forward one frame. Useful for precisely locating the start of a work or movement. |
| M | Mute / unmute |
| F | Toggle fullscreen |
| C | Copy current video time to clipboard (M:SS or H:MM:SS). Editors get frame-precise format MM:SS.FF. |
| S | Download a snapshot of the current video frame as JPEG. Works only for MP4 files (Vimeo HLS is cross-origin and blocks frame capture). |
| ? | Show / hide the shortcuts overlay directly inside the player |
| Esc | Exit fullscreen |
On mobile: Double-tap the left or right side of the video to seek 5 seconds back or forward.
Controls automatically hide after 3 seconds of inactivity. Just move the mouse or tap the video to show them again.
Editor shortcuts (logged-in users only)
In playlist mode, editors also have access to:
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| E | Save the current time as the end of the currently playing playlist item. The player shows a “End: M:SS ✓” confirmation and the value is written to the database immediately. |
Search
The archive offers two search modes:
- Global search — press / (or ⌘K / Ctrl+K) or click the magnifier icon in the top menu. Searches across concerts, composers, performers, works and other categories.
- Section search — list pages (Concerts, Conductors, Performers…) have a search field that filters only within that section. Results update instantly as you type.
Dark and light mode
The moon/sun icon in the top menu toggles between dark and light mode. Your choice is remembered for the next visit.
Language
The archive is fully bilingual. The SK / EN switcher in the top-right corner changes the entire interface and content to the selected language. URLs are automatically translated too.
Navigation
- Breadcrumb navigation at the top of every page shows where you are and allows quick return to parent sections.
- Dropdown menus in the main navigation (Concerts, Lists, About) — on desktop they open on hover; clicking takes you to the section overview page.
