Maurice Ravel's First Sonata for violin and piano is an early work and was not published until long after the composer's death. This one-movement piece, however, suggests that its author possessed healthy creative ambitions. During his lifetime, Ravel was regarded as a rebel, and many composers of the modern era also chose to embrace the role of “rebels.” The versatile Jana Kmiťová attracted attention even as a student; “since her student days, her compositions have surprised listeners with the maturity of their compositional expression and remarkable sonic and expressive means…”. Milan Paľa gathered a wealth of inspiration as a violinist, so the time had come for him to put his experience to use as a composer. Anton Steinecker delves deep into the human psyche in his works, searching for the sources of “primordial music.”George Enescu was a child prodigy; after moving to Paris, he became a veritable idol among musicians. Yet he never forgot his childhood experiments….
