Piano Recital V – Éric le Sage

Revolutionary changes in the construction of the concert grand piano caused a tumultuous intensification of creation. The nocturnes of Gabriel Fauré, based on the model of Fryderyk Chopin, point their sonic inventiveness towards the new ideals presented by Claude Debussy. The “godfather” of modern piano art was Robert Schumann, more than twenty of his earliest opuses belong to the piano. “Ideal French piano aesthetics and clarity” (Die Zeit), this too is Éric le Sage, French pianist and winner of the International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau (1989). As a soloist, he has performed at Carnegie Hall or the Konzerthaus in Vienna. He has performed under the batons of such luminaries as Sir Simon Rattle and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
