Ján Slávik / Daniela Varínska
The chamber works of Ludwig van Beethoven always represent a complex interpretation process, in which the musician must break through all the small nuances of the work. It often happens that the performer changes his view of the score over time, and thus changes the artistic performance. Varínska and Slávik also certainly played the compositions differently more than 25 years ago, when they recorded a CD with the complete five Beethoven cello sonatas. At the same time, we can follow the composer's development here, because the first and fifth cello sonatas are separated by nineteen years of personal and artistic development by the German master. Early Beethoven thus meets his older, more complex and sophisticated self.
The concert master of the cello section of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, Ján Slávik, and the “first lady” of Slovak piano art, Daniela Varínska, have been a chamber duo for more than 35 years.
