Úvahy o smrti, o ničote, nihilistické myšlienky, dezilúzia, strach, tieseň, nekonečná depresia … stavy, aké sprevádzali geniálneho Franza Schuberta po roku 1824 až do predčasnej smrti v roku 1828. Skladateľ trpel vtedy neliečiteľným syfilisom a táto choroba ho ničila. Sláčikové kvarteto d mol o stretnutí Smrti a Krásky je v tomto smere príznačným titulom. Nič z tráum Franza Schuberta nekvári Petra Breinera – autora s otvorenou mysľou, bystrým umom a naozaj muzikantským srdcom. Aj titul jeho šarmantnej zdravice „pánu Bachovi“ vystihuje povahu tohto autora.
