Caro sposo – from the Rome Sacral & Secular Music

Na prelome 16. a 17. storočia si v Ríme vydobyl významné postavenie rod Barberini. Zázračné dieťa, Girolamo Frescobaldi im slúžil po roku 1634. Na vrchole renesancie sa ako jeden z prvých hudobníkov pokúsil emočne, afektívne nasýtiť inštrumentálnu hudbu. Jeho Canzony sú zväčša efektnými transkripciami skladieb pre klávesový nástroj. Domenico Mazzocchi takmer celú svoju kariéru venoval službám kardinálovi Meffeovi Berberinovi, synovcovi pápeža Urbana VIII. Aj preto v jeho tvorbe dominuje sakrálna hudba. Z rodu Barberini pochádza aj Marco Marazzioli, kňaz, bojovník a hudobník. S domom rodu Barberini súvisia aj kompozičné aktivity Luigiho Rossiho.
