Robert Schumann’s Songs

Manželia Clara a Robert Schumannovci sa výraznou mierou pričinili o profesionalizáciu hudobného života v Nemecku v prvej polovici 19. storočia. Robert Schumann bol z hľadiska tohto náročného procesu mimoriadne progresívnou osobnosťou. Ako skladateľ bri- lantne lavíroval medzi tradíciou a novými možnosťami. Clara bola predovšetkým oslňujúcou klaviristkou, pod vplyvom manžela však občas pristúpila aj na kompozičné aktivity a po Marii Therese von Paradise bola druhou výraznou ženou v skladateľskej obci nových čias. V piesňovej tvorbe nadviazali obidvaja manželia na Franza Schuberta, vyhli sa však trudnomyseľným námetom, aké Schubert výrazne presadzoval.
