Mozart
One of the most significant sacred works of the Classical period, which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed in 1782–1783 as an expression of gratitude for the recovery of his wife Constanze (who sang the soprano solo at the premiere in St. Peter's Church in Salzburg). Like the composer's famous Requiem, this Mass also remains incomplete—large sections of the Credo and the entire concluding Agnus Dei are missing. The work captivates the listener with its combination of strict Baroque counterpoint and brilliant Italian operatic style, which is perfectly illustrated by the soprano aria Et incarnatus est.
