Slovak Philharmonic 69. Season Opening Concert

Gustav Mahler nechal vo svojej Prvej symfónii ožiť Titana, ktorý symfonizmu konca 19. storočia dodal výdatnú energiu. Symfónia č. 2 je následne vyjadrením bôľnych a tragických osudov, ale aj zmŕtvychvstania tejto fiktívnej postavy. Lyrické Blumine, akési komorné concerto pre trúbku a orchester bolo pôvodne druhou časťou 1. symfónie. Mahler koncom 19. a začiatkom 20. storočia bojoval o zachovanie hrdého žánru symfónie. Sto rokov pred ním Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart svojou poslednou Symfóniou C dur položil základy žánru takzvanej „veľkej symfónie“.
