Rachmaninov, Mussorgsky, Brahms
Symfonická fantázia Sergeja Rachmaninova čerpá námet z dvoch zdrojov; z jedného z kupletov v poéme Michaila Jurieviča Lermontova a z poviedky Antona Pavloviča Čechova Po ceste. Cyklus Piesne a tance smrti Modesta Musorgského je neskrývaným prienikom skladateľa do hlbín ľudskej psychiky. 4. symfónia e mol Johannesa Brahmsa ukončuje celoživotný boj nemeckého autora s postbeethovenovskou symfóniou. Vo finále skladby vzdal Brahms hold aj Johannovi Sebastianovi Bachovi, keď ju koncipoval ako passacagliu.
