Composers: Claude Debussy (1862–1918), Henri Dutilleux (1916–2013), Karol Szymanowski (1882–1937)

Poézia Charlesa Baudelaira zaujala mnohých hudobníkov. Henry Duttileux ju pretavil do podoby päťčasťového violončelového koncertu o „celom vzdialenom svete“. Kantáta La damoiselle élue bola tretím pokusom Claudea Debussyho získať v roku 1889 Rímsku cenu. Je ešte výrazne ovplyvnená wagneriánskou poetikou. Stabat mater Karola Szymanowského je jedným z opusov poľského skladateľa, v ktorom sa oddáva mystike a hlbokej reflexii.
