Final concert of the New Slovak Music Festival 2012
Fortunately, eternal, even mythical themes motivate younger composers as well; Lukáš Borzík's “Clarissima” and the symbolism of the Promethean fire performed by Rastislav Dubovský are a healthy intersection of the present and the ancient past. The great Ilya Zeljenka would have celebrated his eightieth birthday this year; and although he is no longer physically with us, he is still a firm part of the fabric of our musical reality. The appetite to write piano concertos for enterprising pianists has not waned and has also crippled the experienced Jozef Podprocký. Ivan Buffa is not only an initiative pianist, but also a zealous composer and a very ambitious manager.
