Excerpt from Movie Melodies
Audiovisual art is the youngest of the artistic branches, but already in one century it enjoys great popularity and has quickly gained the upper hand over its older siblings. From the beginning, the film image was complemented by music, which evolved from simple piano accompaniments in the cinema to gigantic symphonic dimensions. Composers specializing in the creation of music for films have emerged. Music that evocatively captures the essence of the scenes is a key part of all high-quality films, which are often recognized by the soundtrack.
As an opera and symphony conductor, Rastislav Štúr has collaborated with leading soloists and musical ensembles at home and abroad. It was he who came up with the idea of presenting extremely popular film music concerts within the Slovak Philharmonic seasons.
