Musical “psychologist”John Cage really takes his Dream of the Listener to almost dreamlike levels. Ilya Zeljenka's Music for Violins continues in a rather nostalgic sonic vein. In the UK, the tradition of music for viola ensembles is widespread: the 'romantic' York Bowen and the slightly more matter-of-fact Benjamin Dale. The intoxicating atmosphere of the old days is provided by the works of Johann Christoph Pezel and Moritz Landgraf von Hessen. Enrique Crespo was a great trombone player and dedicated a lot of “good music” to the instrument. The same is true of the Czech musician Mojmir Bartek. Michal Motýľ is a spontaneous continuation of their activities. Scherzo Deep Brass Joke by Swedish composer Stig Rybrant will be the cherry on top of a hearty musical cocktail.
