Čekovská / Gubaidulina / Saint-Saëns
In the 20th century, the music scene saw a significant rise in the number of female composers. The exceptionally talented Ľubica Čekovská has proudly represented Slovakia among this collection of great figures since her youth. Among her most influential compositional role models is Sofia Gubajdulina. Gubajdulina is also one of the most representative composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Both Čekovská and Gubajdulina draw their inspiration from deep spiritual sources. Symphony No. 3 by Camille Saint-Saëns also conveys powerful emotional depth. The French composer wrote it under the influence of the death of Franz Liszt—his great role model.
